Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate site log of the terms entered into those search boxes.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When someone emails us, the message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is kept within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems receive basic technical details whenever a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring website, when one is provided
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages are often viewed and where visits end. A browser can be set to refuse cookies, though some site functions may then work differently.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies official routes for Richmond County records held by the Sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or third-party criminal file.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern information submitted to their tools, including how long they retain it and when they share it. We cannot set those practices, so review the provider's policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Richmond County Sheriff, North Carolina court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy rules apply. Check those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be available to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that place content on the pages
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance

How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or another security event will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, it will be removed.
Your Data Rights
Rights depend on the law that applies to the user and the data. North Carolina's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by public agencies, including access limits for criminal investigation material under G.S. 132-1.4. It does not turn this private site into a public agency. Where applicable privacy or consumer law grants a request right, a user may:
- Opt out of covered types of processing
- Request deletion where the law provides it
- Ask that inaccurate data be corrected
- Request access to covered personal data
